Not sure whether the lysine has helped with that.but they are all fine. Now it IS possible one of all of them are now carriers.but I currently have 5 cats, 4 of them sphynx and no one has ever had signs of an outbreak.

She had full symptoms of an outbreak however, Vlad, the other cat has never shown signs of herpes despite living with her 2yrs before I had to rehome her alone.Īlso my other 3 cats at the time that lived us at the time and were exposed to her for a year did not ever develop symptoms of herpes either. After I got them into my home I found out one had herpes. They had been living together a year already. I had two rescue sphinx that came to me as a pair. You only give the high outbreak dose for one week though. I THINK it is 250mg daily and 500mg during an outbreak (when they show symptoms). You will have to google the doses or maybe someone on here will post them for you. I think you should give both your cats lysine.whether it is herpes or not. there are more expensive forms like a paste in a tube or treats.you want to make sure you are giving something with the proper dose of lysine to be effective. It costs me $80 and lasts a year for 5 cats. I buy a big container of powder form that I sprinkle on their food daily. Have you tried her on lysine yet? Lots of cat owners give their cats lysine whether they have herpes or not. I think herpes is always a possibility but there is not anything you can do about it if she has it.as in there is no cure.but there are things you can do. No matter what you will deal with it too I just know it is not fun having any health things pop up, let alone those that can be contagious. Knowing she was clear coming here and a week later after getting her, she said it is a tell tale sign of URI. She said that is something that usually is a sign it could be herpes and not just a URI. We got Azura from the same breeder as Jouët who is very reputable and I sincerely doubted herpes, but I could not help myself by asking (just the what if thing) and the vet said she looked to see if there were any ulcers on her tongue, did she have a hard time eating or make gagging noises while eating etc. I know we all read about it on here and it is a worry and in true mommy fashion we think the owrst.

The others could still get it from when they had contact with her etc, but we figure the less interaction the better. Azura's eye stopped the murky thing, but we are waiting a couple of extra days. Said as long as eyes are watering (even clear drops) it can be contagious and if they are sneezing. We have had the cats separated again as it is contagious.

I am no vet, but I read as much as possible. Everything I read says that even after the eye boogies are gone you should finish the meds for the 7 to 10 days after the boogies disappear. Perhaps the breeder did not finish out the prescription or it just lingered on longer and flared up again. When I examined her eyes, the inside lids were inflamed. The tell tale sign for me was the murky eye boogie thing had just started to show. Azura came down with a URI and she too had to get drops and an antibiotic like your baby was on. anyways.should I be worried about herpes?ĭon't panic. But hers are like clear and milky, one had some brown in it though.

Any ideas? My boy gets eye boogers every now and then but his are always brownish, and he did get them more when he was a kitten than he does now (he is 4). Just a few times a day,but I still worry. Today her eyes are all clear but watery.every now and then since we got her 6 days ago she will sneeze. And it's been nearly impossible to keep them seperated except during bedtime they are in seperate rooms and eating times they are seperated, also during they day at certain hours. I told them my biggest fear is herpes because I have a healthy boy at home and do not want him sick. They said not to worry but it could be reminence of the URI even though it's gone. Yesterday I noticed she had some milky colored eye boogers that I had to wipe away several times, I called the vet and made an appointment and the soonest they could see her is Thursday. We took her to a vet the day we got her (last thursday) he said she is healthy and clear, but she may come back down with it in 5 days due to stress of a new home. The breeder had her seen by a vet and she was on eye drops and an antibiotic and she''s been fine ever since. So just hoping someone has some info or has had a kitten with the same issue.
